Andrés · CaliaWaves

The person behind CaliaWaves.

I'm Andrés. CaliaWaves is my artist name and personal brand, and a way of making more room for music in my life.

It brings together the music I make, the things I learn and my wish to help others find their own way to create.

Making room for music

A new chapter.

I started playing the Venezuelan cuatro when I was six. Mandolin lessons, years in the school orchestra and teaching myself guitar followed. Music was part of my life, but when I began studying engineering, it moved into the background for years.

Later, I decided to come back to it seriously, starting with the piano. I began rebuilding my musical knowledge in a way that felt freer, more practical and more enjoyable.

CaliaWaves grew out of that change: a desire to gradually step away from my professional life in engineering and sales, and give music more space. That experience still shapes what matters to me: musical freedom, independence and learning without losing the enjoyment.

Finding my own way

Learning became sharing.

As I went deeper into learning music, I built a home recording setup and expanded my collection of instruments. Studying, recording and exploring became ways to put what I was learning into practice.

That made me want to share it. I wanted to help other musicians, and people who don't yet feel confident with a particular instrument, move forward with their own projects.

Ways to share

One idea, different forms.

A book, a tool and working together on music. Each comes from the same wish to make creating feel more within reach.

Not here to create for you, but to create with you.

A space for tools, knowledge, guidance and collaboration, helping you develop your ideas, grow as a musician and follow your own creative path.

Understanding

Música sin escuela

I wrote this book to share the theory I needed to become more musically independent, and to help others along that same path.

Exploring

Calia Keys

I created Calia Keys to make it easier to practise, experiment and sketch small musical demos, even away from home or somewhere making music would otherwise be difficult.

Warmth, closeness, freedom

The sound behind CaliaWaves.

I'm drawn to warm, calm, melodic sounds: acoustic instruments, bossa nova, gentle funk and music that feels organic and close.

The name CaliaWaves connects that warmth and sense of being surrounded by sound with the idea of sound waves. It's the feeling I want this space to carry, with room to explore freely.
